You've really had to wonder about the source of Katrina

A hurricane which devastated the south, it couldn't have been meaner

It took many southern coastal areas to the cleaners

Could it be as predicted by Jesus a sign of His return as our Redeemer

Some say it was sent by God, the devil, others just a natural force

Sadly the reality is that it can only come from one source

Another of God's warnings to us because we've strayed off course

He's been pleading with us to change until he's hoarse

For after all is said and done the earth is God's and all it contains

He controls the weather and His wrath can make it instantly change

Without repentance judgment for us is all that remains

Even America when God exerts pressure will buckle under the strain

Sin's leaven has been at work in this country in three different forms

The first liberalism from which tolerance at the cost of truth was born

Then hedonism, the love of things whose hold on us is too strong

And lastly legalism's judgmental attitude that tells us what is right and wrong

Jesus said "behold I come quickly," but it's been a long time

However, on the other hand of His return He gave us definite signs

War, disasters, earthquakes, woes and an increase in crime

Mere semantics to our free natures and educated western minds

We've now seen disasters, wars, woes, and increasingly violent storms

But we're so preoccupied we just with the flow go along

So busy with our affairs we can't distinguish between twilight and dawn

Lacking the compassion for Katrina's victims for whom we should mourn

You must admit in any case that America's changing before our eyes

One storm even with its predicted track and still thousands die

I think as a country it's time to repent and for mercy cry

For the time is coming when only trust in God will get us by
